Boulder trip - Day 4 - Burr Trail

Day 4 and we went on the Burr trail. We saw such fantastic scenery. It's hard to choose what pictures to post for you. It was raining in the morning and we almost decided to come home. I'm so glad we didn't. The pictures would have been better against a bright blue sky, but this is the sky we got. :-) I love these red canyons with the green running along the washes. Anywhere there is water. Life Thrives.

I loved these crazy rock formations everywhere. So many different types of rock exist in this landscape. It really looks like the continents collided out here. Beautiful.

This is the entrance to Long canyon. It's this really cool crack inbetween the huge canyon walls. We went in and took some pictures but I'm not sure they do it justice. Trees are growing all along the path at the mouth of the canyon. Cool

I loved these curved rocks where time has worn them down into beautiful shapes. Amazing

Bailey was so fun on this trip. She really enjoyed getting out and exploring all the new places. Adventure dog!

The walls of the canyone were so high. I'm trying to capture it. It really made you feel small to be walking into this giant crevace.

This is back at the end of the canyon. It's really cool and it opens up a bit as you get back here. I think having George in the picuture will give you some idea of the scale.

I think this picture looks like it could have come from Mars, if it didn't have a tree. But the green really makes the red stand out. It's very pretty the way time is shaping these features. I love all the nooks and crannies eaten into the rock.

We were down in a wash and you can get an idea of the expanse from this one.

As you keep driving along you start to get a mix of red rock and a white rock that has an entirely different texture to it.

You get to a point where you are scaling down a mountain side. I've tried to take the picture where you can see a couple of the roads in the very bottom of the picture. It's very steep and you just have one switch-back after another to get down.

We were on dirt roads most of the way. I love how these rocks are just sticking up on their sides right beside the road.

I love when something is growing right out of the rocks. No dirt or anything. It just found a crack and grew. Life will find a way.

It was starting to get cloudy on us, but you can still see how beautiful the scenery is out here. Well worth the drive.

At the end of the day we were rewarded with this wonderful little waterfall. It was really beautiful. Again, I love the water coming out of these rocks.

And once again, Bailey the adventure dog. She was climbing all over the place. When we came to a steep drop off, she would just jump down. Fearless.
